PRS and Overseas Royalties

The saga continues. I was hoping to report that our last three meetings with the overseas team in Berners Street might have come to something by now but we are still some way from achieving our goals, namely: to collect the vast sums of money that continue to be unallocated for overseas commercials.

In short, the foreign territories are disinclined to cooperate and the PRS is unwilling to throw sufficient resources at fixing the problem. The result is something of a stalemate.

The overseas team did, however, design a new overseas notification form which, in theory, looked like the start of something good. But after a long wait we were informed it could only be used retrospectively ie: once it was ascertained that funds had not shown up on a royalty distribution.

This was extremely disappointing. It also entirely missed the point that we need a solution at the outset, when a work is registered, not afterwards when it s patently too late.

We have reminded PRS that they have a fiduciary care over our royalties; we will continue to do so until satisfactory progress is made.
